Shizaitoushan / Xindian Loop
The weather was beautiful Sunday, so we decided to finally do the whole Xindian loop along Pingguang Rd up past Shizaitoushan (獅仔頭山) and then back down to Xindian along the Xintan Rd (新潭路). We've done parts of it described in the previous couple of posts, but this time we did the whole ride.
This is a really nice road that isn't too hard to do, although there are a few kilometers of slightly tougher inclines on the second half of Pingguang Rd (平廣路). The road from Xindian down to Pingguang Rd is a leisurely ride with only two short climbs. It follows along the Xindian River, so there are lots of nice views. Once you reach Pingguang Road, there is very little traffic, and not even many bicycles, considering that we're so close to Taipei and that we did the ride on a brilliant Sunday morning.
No photo today. I am trying to find out how to put up a short movie clip instead of a photo.

I wonder if you can post a GPS tracklog or Google Earth KML(or KMZ) file for this ride.

If you open the map in Google Earth (click the link to open in Google Maps, then click View in Google Earth) you can download it from there either as a kml or kmz file. I've put a Google Earth kmz-file for the ride here. Let me know if it doesn't work.

Thanks. I was successful opening the KMZ file on google earth. However it seems that the path you displayed is just snapped to the google earth road data that turned to be NULL when converted to GPX. So I guess you don't have tracklog data with which others can retrace your ride.

Oh, I thought the gps stayed in there when you converted it. I should still have the gpx-file from the Garmin on the computer. If I do, I'll upload it later tonight or tomorrow. In fact, i should probably just start uploading the gpx-file for every ride I do.

Sorry man, I thought I still had the gpx-file lying around somewhere, but between software updates and computer upgrades it has somehow been deleted. I'll post it when we next do the ride again.

No problem. I can print the map on a paper and retrace the route manually.
